CEC Software Patent Consultation 2000 Submissions: ASPI

Association des Spécialistes en Propriété Industrielle de l'Industrie, Paris. French patent lawyers applaud and demand clear statement of patentability of software, regardless of technical character, which is always there because software runs on a processor. The exclusion of software from the European Patent Convention in 1973 was based on misunderstandings. Software patents help small and medium companies to defend themselves against giants. Stance very similar to that of INPI, the French patent office.
