Österreichische Vereinigung für gewerblichen Rechtsschutz und Urheberrecht -- Austrian IP law association. Their representative, patent lawyer Sonn, applauds, demands that we should, like in 1877 in Germany, have the courage to extend patentability to new spheres, including software and business methods. All extensions of the patent system in the past have proven to be beneficial and there is not reason why this should not be so with new technologies. Publishing source code on the Internet should be considered a patent infringement, but private circulation among developpers should be allowed, as a concession to the open source movement. Written by Helmut Sonn, head of an Austrian IP association and apparently also at least co-author of the FICPI paper
