a fan of open source software, thinks that software patents are a bad, because software works are complex systems of text similar to works of literature. Patenting a software idea is like patenting a plot of a novel. Moreover the models of authorship are continuously changing and especially in the information network world they are not compatible with the model of the patentable invention. Thus software patents fail to promote innovation and instead only reinforce certain vested interests.
