Andreas Trapp, a lawyer from Leipzig who heard Mr. Mueller (EU patent department) speak in Munich on 2001-11-18 at a patent lawyer meeting, doubts the wisdom of software patenting, demands that computer programs be reconfirmed non-patentable, says that patents do not suit software. examination and search is almost impossible, small and medium businesses are put at a disadvantage, investments are transferred from software development to legal costs.
